Severe weather outlook Midwest: Multiday storm siege

Severe weather outlook Midwest warns of a persistent storm system bringing large hail, tornadoes, and damaging winds into next week.

Severe Weather Outlook: Midwest Under Siege

According to the Storm Prediction Center (SPC), the severe weather outlook includes areas from the Great Lakes to the Plains. Minneapolis weather saw early impacts Thursday, with tornado warnings and confirmed damage in Swift County, Minnesota. KSTP and mlive reported a rotating wall cloud and hail near the Twin Cities.

Friday Forecast: Storms Hit Ohio, Mississippi Valleys

Friday brings an elevated risk of tornadoes, especially strong ones, across Milwaukee weather, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Louisville, Nashville, and St. Louis. Hail larger than golf balls and wind gusts exceeding 75 mph could knock out power and down trees.

Weekend Weather: East and South at Risk

By Saturday, scattered storms will stretch from New York to North Carolina and into the southern states like Texas and Oklahoma. Severe threats include damaging winds and hail.

Early Next Week: Tornado Threat Shifts to Plains

From Sunday through Tuesday, the threat will concentrate in Kansas, Oklahoma, and north Texas, including Dallas-Fort Worth, Oklahoma City, and Wichita. A favorable jet stream pattern combined with Gulf moisture sets the stage for potential tornado outbreaks.
