Trump says he and first lady met with families in flood-affected areas
President Donald Trump said he and first lady Melania Trump met with “incredible families” in flood-affected areas in Texas today.
“They’ve been devastated,” the president said at a roundtable in Kerrville, Texas. “They lost their child, or two children, and it’s just hard to believe.”
He went on to praise first responders and community members for their help in the flood response and expressed his condolences for the lives lost at Camp Mystic.
“As we grieve this unthinkable tragedy, we take comfort in the knowledge that God has welcomed those little, beautiful girls into his comforting arms in heaven,” Trump said.
Volunteers in Texas are searching for flood victims and combing through debris along a 30-mile stretch of the Guadalupe River.
CNN’s Ed Lavandera spoke with Texans who are coming together to bring closure to their community.
